My Training Philosophy
Keep it simple! Focus on technique and getting the full benefit of every movement. The best results come when you understand how every exercise helps you reach your ultimate goals.
There are physical and emotional benefits realized in regular exercise that I do not believe can be achieved by other means, and once you have truly experienced that kind of transformation, there is no turning back!
My Road to Fitness
I have been passionate about fitness for most of my life. When my son became interested in running track, as a single mother, I found myself in the position of “mom and coach”. Once he joined a track and field club, he was easily winning 100 and 200-meter races. Even with his success he needed to increase his muscular strength and improve his cardiovascular fitness level. To meet this goal, we trained using a combination of resistance and cardio exercises. His progress was phenomenal!
The fulfillment and joy I felt from being part of my son’s progress inspired me to change my career path. I wanted to help people improve their self-confidence, their level of fitness, and their energy level - allowing them to live their life to the fullest. Becoming a Personal Fitness Trainer was my passion.
I obtained my personal training certification through the American College of Sports Medicine in 2008, focusing on private and small group sessions. I’ve also had the opportunity to give back to the community by doing volunteer training, which included classes at assisted living centers and Health Fairs sponsored by churches and the Tacoma branch of the NAACP. In 2018, I led the men's softball teams in warm-up exercises for the USA Special Olympic Games.
In 2017 I started MA's House of Fitness. I'm training full time and I love it! My training includes strength, conditioning, flexibility, and balance. I work alongside my clients offering customized programs which meet their specific needs and goals. My mission is to take each client from where they are to where they want (and need!) to be.
